“Aladdin” Star Has Had Zero Auditions Despite Movie Earning $1 Billion

In a recent interview, the star of the recent Disney live-action remake of Aladdin says that he hasn’t gotten a single audition despite the film’s mammoth success, according to People. In a recent interview, Mena Massoud said, “I’m kind of tired of staying quiet about it. I want people to know that it’s not always dandelions and roses when you’re doing something like Aladdin.” Even though film made $1 billion dollars globally since its May release, the 28-year-old says that he hasn’t gotten a bump in his career and that he’s had to scale back his own expectations of what a film can do for it. He will be appearing in the Hulu show Reprisal with Abigail Breslin, but he got the role before Aladdin’s release. He says that he knows people only recognize him from the Disney film despite acting for 10 years, but says “I’m going to have to work at chipping away at that.” Reprisal hits Hulu on December 6.
