6 Suspects Detained in Plot to Kill Ex-Boston Red Sox Star David Ortiz
Six people have been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of former Boston Red Sox star David Ortiz. According to<i> The New York Times</i>, authorities in the Dominican Republic have learned the suspects each received 400,000 Dominican pesos–about $7,800–to kill Ortiz. One of the men, Eddy Féliz García, was apprehended Sunday night at the scene of the shooting. “We’ll get to the bottom of all the details of this crime, and all those involved will have to face the weight of the law,” prosecutor Jean Alain Rodríguez said in Spanish at Wednesday’s news conference. It’s unclear who ordered the attack, and a seventh suspect–identified as Luis Alfredo Clase–remains at large.
