2019 American Music Awards: Winners

Taylor Swift proved that she is not only the hottest act in music right now, she’s been on that trajectory for a decade, after dominating the 2019 American Music Awards on Sunday. Swift won four awards, including the night’s top honor Artist of the Year, as well as Favorite Pop/Rock Album for Lover and Best Video award for “You Need to Calm Down.” Swift was then honored by Carole King as Artist of the Decade, an amazing feat for a 29-year-old. “Guys, we’ve had fun, incredible, exhilarating times together and may it continue. Thank you for being the reason why I am on this stage,” Swift said. Swift is now the all-time winningest musician in AMAs history with 25 awards, passing the late Michael Jackson. Billie Eilish also had a big night, winning the New Artist of the Year and Favorite Alt/Rock Artist awards, and Halsey gave a stirring acceptance speech after winning for Best Pop/Rock Song for “Without Me,” in which she seemed to diss other awards shows like the Grammys. “I am so thankful to the AMAs because they are the world’s largest fan-voted awards show,” Halsey continued, adding that fans are “the people who give a s**t about music.” After winning the award for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop album for Hollywood’s Bleeding, Post Malone left viewers a little confused when he said “Honestly, words cannot express how grateful and thankful I am for everything that y’all show me. Thank you for all the fans for showing love and support. We busted our a** for it,” before he threw in the line, “We love you very much and I love grapes.”
