1st Teaser for Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “In the Heights” Is Released
The first teaser for the film adaptation of the Broadway musical <i>In the Heights</i> was released Wednesday, according to <i>Entertainment Weekly</i>. The 15-second teaser shows Anthony Ramos as Usnavi de la Vega, a bodega owner, saying, “This is the story of a block that was disappearing. The streets were made of music.” The rest of the teaser is a swirl of vibrant colors, dancing and singing. The story is about the residents of Washington Heights, a mostly latino neighborhood in New York City. The musical that the film is based on won the Tony award for Best Musical in 2008. The show was created by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who shot to greater fame for later creating the musical <i>Hamilton</i>. Miranda originated the role of Usnavi, but will be playing another character in the film. The first trailer will be released Thursday.
