Undertaken by KVNU, KVFX, KLZX, KBLQ, KLGN, KKEX, KGNT and KYLZ.
Cache Chamber of Commerce Job Expo:
The Cache Valley Radio Group and its stations annually participate in
the Cache Chamber of Commerce Job Expo, held on May 30th and 31st. Not
only was it an opportunity to display how our radio stations are a part
of the community and can help local business, but it was also an
opportunity to discuss job openings and employment opportunities at our
family of radio stations. Radio Station management participated in the
event.
Bridgerland Applied Technology College Job Fair:
The Cache Valley Radio Group and its stations participated in a job fair
hosted by the Department of Workforce Services at Bridgerland Applied
Technology College on September 7, 2007. Radio Station management
participated in the event. Information about available positions was
given to interested students as well as advised on broadcast careers.
Utah Broadcasters Association Job Fair:
The Cache Valley Radio Group and its stations participated in and
promoted a job fair hosted by the Utah Broadcasters Association on March
14th. This job fair was hosted at the University of Utah Union Ballroom.
Radio station management participated in the event, notifying attendees
of employment opportunities at the Cache Valley Radio Group and
accepting resumes. All of the Cache Valley Radio Group stations aired
announcements notifying the public of the job fair, it’s location and
time. The radio stations of the Cache Valley Radio Group are due-paying
members of the Utah Broadcasters Association.
Training:
* All members of the Cache Valley Radio Group Sales Staff engage in
periodic training sessions to review techniques and industry trends. New
sales representatives are able to advance from a base salary to a
commission income after 90 days, upon completion of training session
“Series 2000: A Sales Training and New Business Development Series for
Radio,” “RAB Online Training Academy,” and/or according to the General
Sales Manager’s discretion.
* On-air staff twice a year undergo training and consulting from John
Lund and The Lund Consultants. During the Applicable Period these
training sessions took place in August ‘06 and February ‘07.
EEO Training:
Management level personnel attended an EEO refresher seminar sponsored
by the Utah Broadcasters Association on February 15, 2007. The seminar
was conducted by David Oxenford of David, Wright, & Tremain.
Additionally, the seminar covered FCC regulatory compliance issues,
including: Quarterly Issues Reports, Political Rates, Contests, etc.
High School Internships
*Cache Valley Radio Group Stations KVFX, KLZX, KGNT, KBLQ, KLGN, KKEX
participated with Sky View High School’s “School-To-Careers” program.
Kyle Jorgensen spent time shadowing on-air staff and completing assigned
tasks. Kyle was mentored by Nick Thomas, Program Director for KVFX from
December 2005-June 2006 and received class credit for his efforts.
*KLZX participated with Preston, Idaho’s Preston High School in Lindsay
Rae Lashley’s Senior Project beginning in December 2006-May 2007.
Lindsay shadowed KLZX Program Director Will Feelright and completed
assigned tasks, receiving class credit upon completion of her senior
project.
USU Internships
*KVFX participated with the Broadcast Department at Utah State
University from September 2006-May 2007. Participating students included
Julie Garcia (Sept-Dec. 06), Brooke Buddell, and Britt Shepherd
(Jan.-May 07). These students were mentored by Nick Thomas, Program
Director for KVFX, and were given assigned tasks and on-air
responsibilities and were taught various operating systems. These
students received class credit for their participation.
Career Fair
Station Management participated in the Career Fair at the Adele C. Young
Intermediate School on April 25, 2007. Students were told of job
opportunities in broadcasting, specifically radio, and what they needed
to do to qualify for a position there. |
